Job summary

NHS Professionals is seeking a Band 6 CAMHS Senior Practitioner to provide high-quality mental health care to children and young people in Worcestershire. You will be part of a multidisciplinary team delivering assessment, planning and person-centred care across hospital and community settings.

You will act as a professional role model, uphold the Trust’s values, and contribute to service transformation while covering multiple sites through NHSP’s flexible bank shifts.

Qualifications

  • Current professional registration with a recognised clinical qualification.
  • Post-registration CAMHS or mental health experience.
  • Knowledge of mental health legislation and CAMHS services.
  • Strong communication and teamwork; ability to work independently.
  • Experience in clinical supervision, teaching, and audits.

Responsibilities

  • Complete comprehensive specialist assessments including risk assessments and care plans.
  • Deliver evidence-based therapeutic interventions through individual, family, and group sessions.
  • Act as the key worker for an allocated caseload, coordinating pathways and monitoring progress.
  • Produce accurate clinical documentation and discharge summaries in line with policies.
  • Provide clinical services across settings including hospitals, community facilities, schools and patients’ homes.
  • Participate in clinical supervision, safeguarding processes, and service initiatives.

Ward: Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service

Pay Rates: £21.57 (exc WTD)

Length: 3 Months

Shift Patterns: Monday – Friday 8am to 4pm or 9am to 5pm (37.5 hrs/week)

We have an exciting opportunity for a CAMHS Senior Practitioner at Herefordshire and Worcestershire Health Care NHS Trust to join the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service at Worcestershire Royal Hospital. You will be responsible for delivering high-quality, community-based mental health care to children, young people, and their families as part of a multidisciplinary team. You will support the assessment, planning, and delivery of person-centred care while promoting positive outcomes for service users. You will be expected to act as a professional role model, uphold the Trust's values, use your initiative, and take responsibility for maintaining high standards of clinical practice and service delivery. As part of a developing service, you will also have the opportunity to contribute to service transformation and work across different teams as required.

Responsibilities of this job role
  • To complete comprehensive specialist assessments, including risk assessments and personalised care plans, ensuring these are regularly reviewed and developed in partnership with patients and, where appropriate, their families to support effective clinical outcomes.
  • To deliver evidence-based therapeutic interventions through individual, family, and group sessions, while offering specialist advice and clinical guidance to healthcare professionals involved in patient care.
  • To act as the key worker for an allocated caseload, coordinating patient pathways, monitoring progress, and ensuring continuity of care through effective liaison with all relevant stakeholders.
  • To produce accurate and timely clinical documentation, including assessments, treatment reports, progress records, and discharge summaries, ensuring compliance with local policies, professional standards, and statutory requirements.
  • To provide clinical services across a range of settings, including hospitals, community facilities, schools, residential homes, and patients' homes, adapting interventions to meet individual needs and circumstances.
  • To participate in clinical supervision, safeguarding processes, referral triage, and specialist practice initiatives, while promoting mental health awareness and maintaining strong partnerships with healthcare, education, and community organisations.
To be successful in applying for this role you will need:
  • Current professional registration (NMC, HCPC, Social Work England, or equivalent) with a recognised clinical qualification.
  • Post-registration experience in CAMHS or mental health, including assessment, risk management, and therapeutic interventions.
  • Knowledge of mental health legislation, professional standards, and child and adolescent mental health services.
  • Strong communication, decision-making, and teamwork skills with the ability to work independently and support others.
  • Experience in clinical supervision, teaching, audit, and delivering high-quality, person-centred mental health care.
