An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 4 Participation and Engagement worker to join the Think Together Team with the CAMHS Single Point of Access Team.

The team is locality based across North Yorkshire, York and Selby.

We are keen to hear from those who have a keen interest in supporting young people, families and carers in accessing services and supporting the development of the service, whilst ensuring the patient voice is heard.

Main duties of the job

The post holder will work within the Think Together Team within the CAMHS Single Point of Access Team and will aim to encourage theparticipation from service users in co-creation groups and support the service delivery and development with North Yorkshire, York, and Selby CAMHS.

The post holder will work with the CAMHS teams to develop the working relationships between services, and promote co-creation.

The post will also include visiting our partner agencies to deliver support and training, and offer consultation.

The Think Together team works across the locality of North Yorkshire, York and Selby and there is an expectation of travel across the locality in order to deliver the training, support and consultation. There will also be a requirement to work adjusted hours between 8am and finish at 8pm in relation to the patient experience co-creation group.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Foundation Degree or equivalent OR equivalent experience of providing peer support in a community or inpatient setting
  • Numeracy, Literacy and ITQ level 2 (or equivalent)
  • Completed Trust Trauma Informed Peer Support Training course (passing within agreed timescale)

Desirable

  • Experience working with people with mental ill health or learning disabilities (paid or voluntary)
  • Have a lived experience of using secondary MH services

Experience

Essential

  • Personal experience of accessing secondary (or inpatient) mental health services
  • Experience of delivering peer support in a paid or voluntary role, or in a user led environment
  • Experience of actively engaging in a supervision or co-supervision system
  • Personal experience of mental health challenges or a learning disability that is relevant to the specific role advertised

Desirable

  • Experience of co-production or user led groups or projects
  • Experience of social exclusion, stigma and / or discrimination
  • Experience of facilitating peer support groups

Knowledge

Essential

  • Passionate about the values of peer support and understands what the role adds to a team
  • Understanding of trauma informed approaches and trauma informed peer support, and demonstrated ability to apply this knowledge to practice
  • Understanding of Safeguarding requirements for vulnerable adults and children.
  • Understanding of the Mental Health Act and Mental Capacity Act.
  • Understanding of the needs of individuals from diverse social, ethnic and cultural backgrounds

  • Knowledge of groups and group processes, including any dynamics which may occur.
