A leading healthcare organization in London is seeking a Community CAMHS Nurse to provide essential nursing input to young people aged 3-25 in the Autism Assessment pathway. Job description


The role of the Community CAMHS Nurse in the Autism and Learning Disabilities Team will be to provide CAMHS nursing input to young people aged between 12-18 years in the Autism Assessment pathway and to young people aged 3-25 in the Autism and Learning Disability therapies pathway.

This will involve intensive working as part of an MDT Team, with a variety of clients in clinic and community settings, including schools.You will provide in-reach to inpatient and residential settings where appropriate and have a key role in relation to local area Dynamic Support Registers and the care, education and treatment review process for young people.

You will be responsible for a defined caseload of clients, delivering a range of evidence-based interventions within a multi-disciplinary team and will receive regular clinical supervision from a senior member of the Service. You will also be expected to work jointly with other members of the team offering specialist CAMHS advice, consultation and training as required.

You will have a keen interest in improving outcomes for young people with Autism and/or Learning Disability. Training in the assessment of Autism will be provided alongside access to the training and CPD opportunities working at the Tavistock and Portman enables

The Autism and Learning Disabilities Team, alongside other specialist CAMHS services, is part of the Child Complex Service. The team provides specialist assessment and treatment for young people up to the age of 25 with Autism and learning disabilities, who experience psychological difficulties linked to their condition. The team provides two specialist services:
• A multi-disciplinary autism diagnostic service for children and young people who have mental health needs and social communication and interaction needs up to the age of 18
• Psychological therapies for autistic children, young adults and their families and for those with developmental learning disabilities.

The autism diagnostic service offers a collaborative diagnostic assessment for young people in North Central London and Hertfordshire. We usually see adolescents and young adults, with some parts of the assessment process taking place in schools/colleges as appropriate. The assessment includes brief, post-diagnostic psycho-educative support where relevant.

The therapies service is for children, young people and adults up to the age of 25. There is a strong emphasis on multidisciplinary working and broad biopsychosocial approaches to supporting the client group as well as their families and supporting networks. This service includes a range of therapeutic interventions. Approaches are adapted to meet the unique needs of each person and their family.
