37.5 hours per week Band 6 Mental Health Practitioner

Are you looking for a new challenge and rewarding career in Children and Young People's Mental Health Services within an evolving team? CAMHS Crisis and Home Treatment Pathway are looking for resilient, innovative, and motivated individuals who are passionate about improving the lives and mental health of our young people.

Our pathway provides crisis support and intensive home treatment to young people experiencing mental health crisis and emotional distress. The service can be fast-paced, and the ideal applicant will be extremely organized and self-motivated to provide high-quality assessment and formulation for young people within the service. We provide evidence-based assessments and interventions for young people, keeping with the principles of the iTHRIVE model. The team adopts a creative, trauma-informed, and proactive approach in engaging young people and their families. The individual will be able to work independently but also collaborate well within a team.

Working hours will cover a 7-day a week service including bank holidays.

Main duties of the job
  • Crisis Community: To respond to CYP presenting in crisis within the community that have been referred in. Clinicians will complete psychosocial assessments, risk management, and signposting.
  • Home Treatment: The team offers CYP an intensive community approach to avoid hospital admission and provides step-down support after discharge from a mental health inpatient unit.

Job responsibilities
  • To improve children and young people's mental health through delivering an integrated, coordinated system of community-based mental health care, providing safe, culturally competent, effective, cost-efficient, timely, and accessible services responsive to local needs and views.
  • Support delivery of consultation, liaison, and training to staff in universal/targeted/specialist services. Provide clinical input, ensuring practice aligns with evidence-based standards within a multi-agency locality-based team offering assessment and treatment interventions per NICE Guidelines.
  • Contribute to a positive working environment supporting high morale, personal development, and continuous improvement.
  • Work with children, young people, families, and professionals to reduce stigma and promote positive messages about mental health.
  • Develop skills to provide autonomous, culturally competent assessments, formulate care plans, and communicate effectively with referrers, GPs, and relevant parties, with young people's consent where appropriate.
