Job overview

Lambeth CAMHS is looking to recruit a Learning Disability Nurse into its community CAMHS service to support the Neurodevelopmental Pathway.

We seek an experienced and motivated RLDN, RMN, or RCN with experience working with children and young people with neurodiverse presentations including ASD, LD, and ADHD. The post holder will serve as a care coordinator and provide therapeutic support for children, young people, and their families within the Lambeth CAMHS Neurodevelopmental Pathway, part of the River team (Tier 3 service). The main team base is located at Mary Sheridan Centre, Wooden Spoon House, SE11 4TH.

Main duties of the job

  • Provide care coordination and therapeutic support for CYP and families in Lambeth CAMHS Neurodevelopmental Pathway.
  • Conduct clinical assessments, treatment, risk assessments, planning, implementation, and monitor outcomes for neurodiverse children and young people across CAMHS intervention tiers.
  • Deliver groups to support the wellbeing of CYP and families referred to the service.
  • Offer support, training, consultation, and advice to junior team members and clinicians on neurodiversity issues across the service.
  • Collaborate closely with other clinicians in the NDP to develop and enhance clinical offerings for CYP with neurodevelopmental conditions in Lambeth.

Person specification

Qualifications and Professional Registration

  • Registration with NMC or equivalent statutory body.
  • First-level nursing qualification/registration RNLD, RMN, or RSCN with CAMHS experience.
  • Completed practice assessor or supervisor training or equivalent experience.
  • MSc or equivalent in child and adolescent mental health or related fields, with a strong portfolio of clinical development.
  • Additional training in ADHD/ASD/LD interventions and CBT/DBT.

Knowledge

  • Knowledge of mental health disorders in children and adolescents, risk assessment, safeguarding, and relevant research.

Experience

  • Experience as a registered nurse in CAMHS.
  • Experience as a care coordinator or primary nurse in CAMHS.
  • Proven practice in assessments and working with children with ADHD/ASD/LD.

Skills

  • Ability to work under pressure, with good communication, IT, and organizational skills.
  • Reflective practice and effective teamwork skills.
  • Therapeutic engagement and parental support skills.
  • Leadership, supervision, and adaptability skills.

Abilities

  • Engage therapeutically with clients, work within multidisciplinary teams, and manage emotionally stressful situations.
