Job summary

A local integrated health service in Plymouth seeks a Children's Wellbeing Practitioner to support the emotional and social well-being of children and young people. Job description

37.5 hours per week. This role is only open to those that have completed the Childrens Wellbeing Practitioner training. The postholder isresponsible for supporting the emotional, psychological and social wellbeing ofchildren and young people with a drive for early intervention, enablingcultural change in the way first contact services can support children andyoung people with mental health problems. Providing low intensity CBT to young people.

In line with 2015 Future in Mindstrategic vision for CAMHS the post holder will actively promote resilience,prevention and early intervention to children and young people in thecommunity.

Thepost holder will work with the CAMHS Liaison Practitioners to support childrenand young people where there is concern about emerging mental health issues orbehaviours.

Thepost holder will support the consultation process to the network or directly tothe child, young person and their family. The post holder will be have anidentified role as directed by the liaison practitioner, in further assessment,targeted intervention or group work that would meet the needs of the child oryoung person.

Thepost holder will deliver training to community services and schools.

This rolemay not be eligible for sponsorship under the Skilled Worker route.

Main duties of the job

To work as part of the Early Help Team with children and young people who may present with emerging mentalhealth difficulties.

To deliver evidence based targeted interventionsin a timely manner

To contribute to the communityassessment clinics to ensure that children and young people and the appropriate interventions.

Delivery of group based. To support the delivery ofevidence based parenting programmes for children and young people with mentalhealth issues.

Ensure planned interventions are implementedeffectively and evaluated using Routine Outcome Monitoring (ROMS)

Participate in the delivery of trainingprogrammes for schools and community services from a portfolio of availableCAMHS training

Maintain standards of care to highestlevel within available resources.

To actively participate in line managementwith senior and junior members of staff.

To maintain confidentiality in respectof the young people at all times.

Communicate clearly with children andyoung people, their families and all other health professionals.

Actively participate in clinicalgovernance and quality improvement initiatives, e.g. clinical audit, essence ofcare or clinical policy development.

Ensure that children and young peopleare encouraged to play a part in decision making .To promote person-centred planning.

Person Specification
Experience
  • Experience of working with children and/or young people.
  • Evidence of working with children and young people with mental health difficulties.
  • Experience of working in mental health or related services.
  • Worked in a service where agreed targets in place to demonstrating outcomes.
Qualifications
  • A candidate will need to have completed the Children's Wellbeing Practitioner (CWP) IAPT training to be eligible to apply for this role.
  • Evidence of undergraduate level study or the equivalent.
  • Evidence of numeracy.
  • Psychology or other health or social care or youth related undergraduate degree.
Knowledge
  • Knowledge of child and adolescent development and the role of the family in supporting children and young peoples emotional well-being.
  • Understanding of systems and contexts in which children and young people are likely to live.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of common mental health problems experienced by children and young people.
  • Able to identify common mental health problems in children and young people.
  • Understands why it is essential to use evidence-based interventions when possible.
  • Understands why collecting feedback from children, young people and parents is important.

  • Responsive to and willing to ask for feedback and supervision.
  • Received training (either formal or through experience) and carried out risk assessments within scope of practice.
Training
  • An applicant will need to have completed the Children's Wellbeing Practitioner (CWP) IAPT training to be eligible to apply for this role.
  • Able to integrate training skills learnt into practice.
  • Registration as part of having attended and completed CWP training
