Job description

Do you have a passion for helping young people?

Are you skilled at engaging with young people and their families?

Can you stay calm and confident in busy acute settings?

Are you interested in development opportunities and high-quality training?

If so, we would love to hear from you!

Dorset CAMHS has launched a new Enhanced Support and Liaison team operating within three Acute Hospitals and across the community, offering enhanced support to young people and their families in times of crisis. This service provides comprehensive mental health assessments and short-term crisis interventions to support young people in crisis, helping them achieve stability.

The team already comprises experienced and skilled practitioners and clinical managers. We are seeking energetic, passionate, and experienced staff to join us as we expand to build a well-supported, clinically skilled team across Dorset.

We are investing heavily in a comprehensive training package to equip staff with the necessary skills to operate safely and confidently with young people. While experience working with young people is required, training in assessment, management, and treatment of crisis will be provided during induction, along with excellent supervision from our clinical and operational managers.

Your responsibilities will include:

  1. Offering high-quality mental health assessments and clinical formulations for young people and families referred from various settings, both in hospitals and in the community.
  2. Ensuring high standards of clinical practice when working with young people and their families/carers.
  3. Liaising with relevant agencies to coordinate care.
  4. Providing evidence-based therapeutic interventions to children, young people, and their families within the team.
  5. Collaborating with colleagues within Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services to deliver comprehensive care packages and making recommendations regarding patient admission and discharge under supervision.

This role mainly involves working with young people in the community across Dorset. We support flexible working, including a hybrid of home and site-based work across Dorset and the three hospitals.

The service operates from 8am to 9pm, 7 days a week, offering opportunities for weekend work, enhancements, and shifts that can be early, late, or longer but fewer days during the week.

At Dorset HealthCare, we aim to empower people through outstanding, joined-up healthcare services. We’re a dynamic, forward-looking Trust, rated ‘outstanding’ by the CQC in 2019, serving a population of nearly 800,000 with a workforce of 7,000 dedicated staff.

We value diversity and are committed to equal opportunities. Join us to challenge yourself, build your career, and make a difference in our communities. Our vision is to improve every day through excellence, compassion, and expertise.
