Job overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for Occupational Therapists with experience of working with young people and their families to work in Tri-borough CAMHS. This is a full-time Band 7 permanent post in the CAMHS Alliance service.

We are on a significant journey of transformation in the quality of services provided, through greater co-production with service users and carers, and addressing long-standing inequalities. Increasingly, we are leading and collaborating closely with integrated care partnerships including working towards giving a stronger voice to some of the most vulnerable people in society.

We would be delighted to hear from Occupational Therapists who have some experience working in CAMHS using OT skills and are interested in this role.

The post holder will provide line management, clinical and professional supervision for staff within the discipline

Main duties of the job

The Alliance Crisis Team serves 3 key pathways

Acute Trust and out of hours’ service

•Intensive community support/ Home Treatment service & Post A&E Review

•Intensive community support/Home Treatment + service with Tier 3 CAMHs interface and Tier 4 diversion/Tier 4 step downThe post holders will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team, holding a clinical caseload and undertaking the comprehensive assessment of children and young people with mental health needs (including risk assessment and the development of risk management plans) who present in crisis to CAMH Services, hospitals and sites covered by the Alliance Crisis Care.In addition to providing direct work to families and young people, the post holders will also assist the CAMHS and/or paediatrics team with treatment planning and provide consultation to families/carers and other professionals involved in the life of the young person.

The post holder will participate in delivering the provision of specialist mental health services to children and young people and their families and carers across the West London NHS Trust 3 Boroughs CAMH Service and crisis pathway.

The role will include providing brief interventions and outreach work to children and young people presenting with acute psychological and mental health problems where intensive support is required to prevent admission to Child and Adolescent Mental Health Units.

Qualifications

  • BSc (Hons) or equivalent Occupational Therapy qualification
  • HCPC Registered
  • Evidence of post-graduate training in mental health and an active interest in further professional development in CAMHS
  • Clinical supervision training
  • Practice placement educator training
  • Post graduate training in sensory integration
  • Training in DBT

Experience

  • Considerable post qualification experience as a Band 6 or equivalent
  • In-patient and/or community mental health OT clinical experience
  • Experience of working with children and young people who self-harm or have suicidal ideation
  • Experience of using a range of OT standardised assessments
  • Experience of multidisciplinary and multiagency working
  • Supervision of O.T.s and support staff
  • Supervision of O.T. students on practice placement
  • Demonstrated involvement in service development
  • Experience of working in CAMHS setting
  • Experience of line managing staff
  • Research and audit experience

Knowledge

  • Specialist knowledge and application of OT assessments, interventions and outcome measures relevant to client group
