Salary: £27,300 - £32,533 depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.
Contract type: Permanent role. The working pattern is a 35 hour week, eight hour shifts starting at 08.30, 09.30 or 11.30, Monday to Friday and two eight hours shifts every sixth weekend (with days off in lieu on the following Mon and Tuesday).
Location: Office Base is Glasgow but the job requires working across the central belt of Scotland, and occasionally further afield.

Job IntroductionDo you have a vision for how to help develop the look and impact of BBC News' visual output in Scotland?
We are looking for a skilled operator of broadcast or other camera equipment, who can bring energy and ideas to the role. An eye for good television and digital news and an instinct for visual storytelling are important. Someone to help deliver compelling content on stories from the country's diverse communities.
Main Responsibilities- The job involves shooting and on occasion editing news stories for Reporting Scotland, Reporting Scotland at Seven and providing video content for our Online and Digital output. In this role, you'll be expected to use a range of video cameras for newsgathering. Experience of flying a drone camera would be helpful. Avid is the edit platform in our bases, so we will want you to know or be willing to learn this.
- The post requires learning the BBC's Editorial Guidelines and understanding BBC News' need for impartiality.
- This job is part of a Central Belt team of camera journalists, so there will be regular deployments in a camera vehicle across the country.
- In a 35 hour week, excluding breaks, you will be asked to work on shift to our evening bulletins, Reporting Scotland and the Reporting Scotland at Seven, and to work at the weekend on occasion too.
Are you the right candidate?The successful candidate will work well under pressure and be able to cope when news breaks, and be expected to become confident in a live news environment.
We're particularly interested in hearing from people who might bring a different perspective and widen the agenda of BBC News.
You will:
- Have proven interest in the news, or experience in journalism.
- Experience in the use of a range of cameras, both broadcast and professional for filming the news.
- Experience of creative camerawork and editing.
- The ability to work in a small co-dependant team with other journalists.
- Also be a self-starter, able to deliver stories and story treatments on your own on occasion. Ability to engage with members of the public.
- Have awareness of your, and others, health and safety while filming on what can be developing and changing stories and deployments.
- Have a willingness to be deployed to cover news stories across Scotland in a camera vehicle and also, on occasion, abroad.
