Job summary

ARC (Norwich) Ltd is recruiting an Intermediate Mechanical Estimator for its Cambridge office. The role focuses on producing accurate tenders for Mechanical Building Services projects, from drawings analysis to supplier engagement and tender submissions. The position offers career progression within a supportive team.

The ideal candidate has 2+ years in a Mechanical Estimator role, strong numerical skills and a proactive, organized approach. A full UK driving licence is required.

Qualifications

• At least 2 years' experience within a Mechanical Estimator role.
• Good understanding of Mechanical Building Services.
• Experience pricing projects within the M&E or Building Services sector.
• Strong numerical and analytical skills with excellent attention to detail.
• Good knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Excel.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple tender deadlines.
• Proactive and organised approach to work.
• Strong team-working skills and ability to work independently.
• Full UK Driving Licence.

Responsibilities

• Review tender documents, drawings and specifications.
• Perform mechanical take-offs and prepare cost estimates.
• Obtain and evaluate quotations from suppliers/subcontractors.
• Prepare cost comparison schedules for tender adjudications.
• Raise RFIs throughout the tender period.
• Assist with design development to ensure compliant submissions.
• Produce value engineering options and alternative cost proposals.
• Present tender information to senior management during adjudication.
• Support handover of successful tenders to delivery teams.
• Build strong relationships with suppliers, subcontractors and clients.
