Oadby Plastics in Leicestershire near Leicester is seeking a CAD/CAM Technician to join our technical team. You will create precise SolidWorks drawings, develop Alphacam CNC programs, and support CNC machinists to meet exact specs and production deadlines.

What you will be doing

Working as part of the technical team, the CAD/CAM Technician plays a key role in producing technical drawings to exact specifications. You’ll be responsible for estimating, programming, and supporting CNC machinists to meet technical and quality standards. In this role, you’ll help to keep production running and support our wider goals across the business.

You day to day responsibilities include:

• Create precise CAD drawings in SolidWorks based on sketches, samples, and engineering prints.
• Develop CNC programs using Alphacam for CNC routers and mills.
• Assist with offline CAD/CAM programming and provide support to CNC machinists during production.
• Collaborate with sales, technical, and production teams to address project requirements and technical challenges.
• Ensure timely and accurate completion of technical drawings and CNC programs to meet production deadlines.
• Prepare and document estimates based on technical drawings or customer samples.
• Support the sales team with technical insights for subcontract work and production requirements.

We’re looking for someone who is reliable, hands on and takes pride in producing high quality work. You’ll need to be comfortable working as part of a team, have a proactive attitude and be willing to support sales and production when needed.

To be successful in this role, you’ll need:

• Proficiency in CAD/CAM programming.
• Strong understanding of engineering drawings and CNC machining processes.
• Experience with SolidWorks and Alphacam.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in work.
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes and materials.
• Salary - £35,000 – £40,000 depending on experience
