Job summary

Supply Desk Ltd is seeking a calm, confident Individual Needs Assistant to support a Year 4 pupil in a primary school in Uckfield. You will provide dedicated 1:1 support, help with learning and daily routines, and use consistent behaviour strategies to promote emotional regulation and independence.

Ideal candidates will have experience with ADHD, PDA, SEND or SEMH, be able to handle challenging behaviour, and build strong, trusting relationships with pupils and staff.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children with ADHD, PDA, SEND or SEMH.
• Confident supporting challenging or complex behaviour.
• Calm, patient and emotionally resilient.
• Adaptable and able to think on your feet.
• Consistent and confident in maintaining boundaries.
• Able to build strong relationships with children.
• Positive and nurturing while remaining firm and professional.
• Experience working on a 1:1 basis is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Provide dedicated 1:1 support to a Year 4 pupil.
• Support learning, engagement and daily routines.
• Use calm, consistent and positive behaviour strategies.
• Help develop emotional regulation and coping strategies.
• Adapt approach to pupil's individual needs.
• Build a trusting, positive professional relationship.
• Work closely with class teacher and school team.
• Support independence and confidence.
• Promote a safe, inclusive learning environment.
• Respond appropriately to challenging situations.
