Flagstone Theatre are looking for 4 Highlands-based or originating voice actors to contribute to a soundscape for their Creative Scotland supported production Beastie. Recording in Inverness 1st Aug.
Flagstone Theatre are seeking four Highlands-based (or Highlands-originating) actors for a unique short-term opportunity as part of our Creative Scotland-funded production Beastie — a new darkly comic solo show exploring Highland folklore, legacy, and the monster myths that live among us.
We’re recording a series of audio monologues derived from real oral history interviews with residents of Morar, capturing community reflections on the legend of Morag, the Loch Morar monster. These voice recordings will be performed by actors and used to open and close the live show as part of a haunting soundscape — helping to weave local truth into national myth.
We’re looking for actors aged 18+ who:
Are based in or originally from the Scottish Highlands
Have strong storytelling instincts and a love of character work
Are confident working from transcripts and delivering voice-to-mic
Can convey tone with subtlety, humour, and humanity
Are happy to jump into multiple different roles and voices as required
Can confidently deliver vocal performances with little to no rehearsal time
Here’s what you need to know about the job:
Recording location: Inverness; remote option available if you have a home studio
️ Recording date: Fri 1 Aug 2025
Each actor will be called for a session lasting max. 2 hrs
Fee: £150 per performer + travel expenses
This is a voice-only role, performed from a script. A portion of the material will be provided to you one week in advance. The remaining material will be shared on the day of recording. There is no expectation to memorise the script; it will be available to you throughout the process.
This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a high-quality theatre production rooted in Scotland’s rural communities. No specific vocal “type” required — we welcome a mix of accents, experiences and voices, and particularly encourage applications from underrepresented groups.
