Job Summary

Based in our thriving facilities in East Cowes, the Calibration Engineer will be responsible for supporting the company’s business through the calibration and maintenance of electronic and electrical instrumentation across both sites.

Job Responsibilities

Typical responsibilities will include:

  • Ensuring all equipment meets relevant specifications.
  • Maintaining calibration records in accordance with ISO 10021-1 latest issue.
  • Maintaining full computerized company and personal recall records.
  • Ensuring compliance with CAA, FAA, Nadcap, and customer requirements.
  • Locating and dispatching equipment for external calibration (ISO, UKAS, British Standards, manufacturer’s specifications, or in-house customer requirements).
  • Being a point of contact for internal or external calibration requirements.
  • Prioritising calibration requirements.
  • Sourcing and ordering new equipment and spares for the mechanical calibration department.
  • Writing and maintaining work instructions to latest specifications.
  • Ensuring work is performed according to the latest national or international standards.
  • Identifying and introducing cost-saving measures and improving working practices.
  • Performing secondary calibration methods to support business needs.
  • Making minor adjustments to assets to meet closer tolerances.

Job Qualifications

Suitable applicants will be able to demonstrate:

  • Minimum Level 3 NVQ (or equivalent) gained through a formal apprenticeship in manufacturing engineering or related fields.
  • Significant previous calibration experience within an industrial environment, focusing on electronic and electrical instrumentation calibration.
  • Formal metrology training or qualifications would be highly advantageous, as would knowledge of aerospace manufacturing standards.
