Job summary

ABP UK is seeking a motivated Calf Rearing Technician for a 12-month fixed-term contract with potential to go permanent for the right candidate. The role offers hands-on livestock care within a structured, corporate environment.

You will support the Calf Rearing Manager during visits, monitor calf health and welfare, assist with weighing and EID recording, and contribute to vaccination programmes. Travel across South Wales and the Southwest, with occasional overnight stays, is required.

Qualifications

• Experience with calves or dairy preferred.
• Willingness to travel across regions.
• Practical, hands-on livestock approach with attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Support Calf Rearing Manager with visits to contracted calf rearing units.
• Monitor calf health and welfare, identifying at-risk animals.
• Assist with weighing calves and recording EID data.
• Support vaccination programmes and quality checks at collection centres.
• Maintain high standards of animal welfare and biosecurity.
