Job description

Ground Coffee Society is one of Southwest London’s best-loved independent coffee shops. We roast our own coffee just down the road in Wandsworth Town and supply many other SW London cafe’s, and care deeply about quality, people and our community.

We’re looking for a commercially-minded, self-motivated and creative General Manager to run the day-to-day operations at our café. Someone who leads from the front, solves problems quickly, and knows how to get the best out of people. This is a hands-on role where you’ll shape both the customer experience and the direction of the team.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Leading the daily running of the café
  • Managing and developing a high-performing team
  • Handling scheduling, recruitment, onboarding and performance
  • Managing stock, ordering and supplier relationships
  • Overseeing customer service and dealing with issues in the moment
  • Using Deputy to manage rota and labour targets
  • Ensuring all H&S and EHO standards are met
  • Attending weekly strategy meetings and contributing to growth

What we’re looking for:

  • Proven experience managing a fast-paced café or similar
  • Someone people trust, follow and learn from
  • Calm under pressure, quick-thinking and great with people
  • Commercially sharp — understands margins, cost control and KPIs
