640East is an independent, high-volume café and bar originally built from two shipping containers (640sq ft), serving specialty-grade, ethically sourced coffee, craft cocktails, and beer in the heart of Canary Wharf. In 2023, we expanded our footprint with a beautiful new café on Wood Wharf.

We’re a strong, close-knit team looking for an enthusiastic and highly skilled Barista with management experience to take the lead across both sites.

What the Role Involves:

As Café Manager, you’ll be responsible for the day-to-day operations of both our original Montgomery Square Cafe and our Wood Wharf café. You’ll ensure smooth service, high standards, and a welcoming environment for our customers and team. Your leadership will help shape the identity and culture of both venues.

Key Responsibilities:

Oversee daily operations at both sites, maintaining consistent service and product quality.

Lead by example – from behind the coffee machine to team management.

Train, mentor, and develop staff to uphold our high standards in coffee, cocktails, and customer service.

Foster a fun, creative, and supportive environment for your team.

Work closely with team to hit performance targets including sales, labour, and stock control.

Identify and support team development, creating training plans and growth opportunities.

Be hands-on and proactive, able to “manage in the moment” and respond quickly to changing needs.

About You:

Experienced Barista with proven leadership or management experience.

Energetic, creative, and passionate about specialty coffee and hospitality.

A team player who thrives in a busy, customer-facing environment.

Confident with business metrics and eager to contribute ideas to help us grow.

Adaptable, organised, and excited about managing two unique but connected spaces.
