Job summary

Ashtead Garden Centre is seeking a friendly Café Assistant to join our busy in-house cafe. You will provide first-rate customer service, be a strong team player and help out in all areas of the cafe.

Working full-time with alternate weekends and daytime hours, there are no evening shifts to ensure a good work-life balance. The role includes till operation, serving customers, basic food preparation and keeping the cafe tidy.

Qualifications

• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Health & safety and food hygiene knowledge; training available.
• Ability to work under pressure and to tight schedules.

Café assistant

We are looking for an enthusiastic and reliable café assistant for our popular, busy garden centre café, to start asap. You must have excellent communication skills and provide first-rate customer service, be a great team player and be willing to help out in all areas in the café.

You will work full-time, including alternate weekends (with a weekday day off in lieu). There are no evening shifts, giving a good work-life balance.

The café is part of our popular, independent, family-run garden centre in Ashtead.

The café:

Serving breakfast, speciality tea and coffee, cakes, pizza, light lunches and ice cream, the café has space for around 300 customers including outdoor seating. Afternoon Tea is served in our function room, which can also be booked for larger parties and events.

You:

• Professional, organised, good time-keeper, able to work well under pressure
• Health & safety; food hygiene knowledge – training can be given
• Till operation
• Food preparation
• Serving customers and clearing tables
• Help out in all areas as necessary
• Weekend working – every other weekend

Days:

Working 4 weekdays plus alternate weekends.
