Job description

Our premium brand Automotive client is currently recruiting for the following role:

CAE Developer - Virtual Build - £34/hr (Inside IR35) - Coventry - 12 Months (potential for yearly renewal)

Our client has recently restructured the Propulsion CAE team, particularly the Virtual Build Factory team. The area is currently inventing and developing processes to improve speed and quality. The successful candidate will be required to identify opportunities and develop code to automate processes, enhancing team efficiency. The role is multidisciplinary, involving work on-cycle and off-cycle programmes, primarily developing code while collaborating closely with development engineers, analysts, and model builders.

The individual will be responsible for:

1. The collection and compilation of Non-Geometric Data by working with internal customers.
2. The collection and compilation of Geometric Data using in-house CAD software to assist in building virtual models.
3. Understanding Virtual Factory floors to identify opportunities for process automation and KPI development.
4. Determining automation and optimization requirements, developing code, metrics, and targets.
5. Coding/programming to convert manual efforts into automated processes.
6. Developing programming code to automate manual processes, reducing time and improving quality.
7. Supporting method reviews and contributing ideas.
8. Developing and delivering new process training materials.
9. Performing additional duties as directed by the line manager related to the job.
10. Creating user guides and manuals to train CAE team members.

Skills required:

• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, VB, Java, Simulink, Matlab, etc.
• Good understanding of CAD software, specifically 3DX CATIA.
• Proficiency in MS Excel.
• Ability to adapt to and understand new technological areas.
• Strong communication skills.
• Understanding of propulsion systems (preferred).
• Understanding of materials and material properties (preferred).
• Awareness of EDU, HV charging systems, electrical, mechanical systems (preferred).
• Knowledge of machine learning, AI, etc. (preferred).

Educational background:

Programming, Electrical, Mechanical, AI, Software-related fields.

Additional Information:

This role is on a contract basis and is Inside IR35.
