Role Overview

To ensure spare parts availability is optimised whilst balancing this with stores spend. Manage the spares process to reduce losses associated with obsolescence, turnover, etc. Support Technical Lead in Breakdown Analysis and develop mitigating measures, working with BDE teams to ensure new equipment is brought online with correct PM schedules and spares holding.

Reporting to the Section Engineering Manager, working closely with the Cell team and shift technicians assigned to the cell. The role does not have any direct reports but requires strong relationships with the Technical Lead and Shift Technicians.

Responsibilities will include:

  1. Coordinate and prioritize maintenance activities: Work closely with the Cell Technical Lead, Shift Technicians, planning, and operations personnel to coordinate activities (corrective and planned), maximizing equipment uptime. Issue plans to relevant personnel.
  2. Operating maintenance strategies: Support the Cell Technical Lead in evaluating and refining maintenance strategies to improve reliability, reduce downtime, and enhance overall equipment effectiveness.
  3. Monitoring and tracking maintenance activities: Use computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) or other software tools to track work orders, record activities, monitor equipment performance, and generate reports. Conduct spend analysis on spare parts and identify opportunities for improvement.
  4. Compliance with safety and regulatory standards: Ensure all maintenance activities adhere to safety protocols, environmental regulations, and industry standards.
  5. Training and mentoring: Provide training and guidance to maintenance technicians on planning, scheduling processes, tools, and best practices.
  6. Collaborating with the BDE department: Work closely with BDE to ensure seamless integration of new equipment into the maintenance program.
  7. Generating preventive maintenance (PM) plans: Develop and generate PM plans for new equipment, determining maintenance intervals, tasks, and procedures to ensure optimal performance and longevity. Support M&R activities to improve processes, participating in pre- and post-maintenance meetings to ensure alignment.

Skills Required

  • NVQ Level 3 Engineering or equivalent in a related subject
  • Computer literacy
  • Effective written, verbal, and presentation communication skills
  • Strong technical knowledge across site processes and lines (Desirable)
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Strongly driven by a safety culture
  • Able to work as part of a wider team and share best practices
  • Advanced problem-solving skills; able to work collaboratively across teams and functions
