Job description

We’re champions of the North West and we’re proud that it’s our electricity network that connects communities and helps keep the electricity flowing every minute of every day, from when you wake up to when you fall asleep and all the hours in between.

A key part of the UK’s journey to net zero carbon is the revolution of our electricity industry to enable clean, green economic growth. As the North West’s electricity network operator, it’s our responsibility to lead the way, help the region decarbonise, and pave the way for the growth of renewable energy and a sustainable energy future for all.

We’re proud that in December 2024 we were named Utility of the Year by Utility Week magazine, which praised us for punching above our weight and using innovation to solve industry challenges. Join our team and make a difference.

Together we have the energy to transform our communities. We are switched on, adaptable, and take pride.

Our Role

As a developing CAD Technician, your initial responsibilities will include interpreting basic customer plans and proposals, overlaying them onto ENWL records to assess impact on network assets. You will work with basic hand-annotated design drawings from electrical design engineers and, with assistance, produce high-quality CAD drawings and other outputs. As your skills develop, you will progress to more complex drawings following an agreed development plan.

Note: The successful candidate must have permission to work in the UK without sponsorship at the start of employment.

What We’re Looking For
  • A basic appreciation of common Computer Aided Design (AutoCAD)
  • A basic understanding of the electricity distribution network (LV to 132kV)
  • A basic working understanding of ENWL Asset Data Records and symbology
  • At least two years' experience in the electricity distribution industry
  • Customer focus and the ability to interpret and act on customer requirements
  • Proficiency with company IT systems and MS Office applications
  • Good written and spoken communication skills
  • Results-oriented with the ability to work independently
  • Good workload planning and adaptability to changing demands
  • Ability to make informed, timely decisions with support, escalating critical issues as needed
What We’re Offering

As a vital team member, we offer a competitive salary and the chance to join a passionate, welcoming team. Our benefits include:

  • An annual bonus scheme
  • 26 days annual leave, increasing with service
  • Access to an employee rewards portal with discounts
  • A market-leading contributory pension scheme
  • Employee assistance programme
  • Opportunities for professional development

We are committed to diversity, inclusion, and creating a supportive environment where everyone can thrive. For application support or adjustments, contact our Recruitment team at careers@enwl.co.uk or call 0845 366 0092 (option 2).

All offers are conditional on satisfactory pre-employment checks, including references, medical assessment, DBS, and drug & alcohol testing. We reserve the right to close this vacancy early.
