CAD Technician (Swept Path Analysis)

Salary: £35,000 - £45,000 (+ benefits)

We are working on behalf of a leading engineering company to recruit a CAD Technician with expertise in swept path analysis. This is a key role within the business, supporting transport feasibility studies and consultancy projects by producing detailed vehicle movement assessments.

The successful candidate will play a vital part in securing new business by demonstrating how abnormal loads can be successfully transported.

This role will primarily be onsite at my client's office local to Redditch with some occasional home working available.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Use swept path analysis software to generate vehicle movement studies for abnormal load transport.
  2. Assess route feasibility on the public highway, identifying Public Road Improvements (PRI) and necessary street furniture removal.
  3. Work closely with internal teams to ensure drawings meet technical and regulatory requirements.
  4. Support FEED studies (Front End Engineering Design) to assess potential transport routes.
  5. Conduct route surveys to identify real-world obstacles and inform design solutions.
  6. Produce accurate and detailed CAD drawings to support project planning and permit applications.
  7. Provide additional CAD support as required.

Skills & Experience:

  1. Proficiency in AutoCAD 2D (Light version).
  2. Strong understanding of swept path analysis and route planning for large vehicles.
  3. Experience using AutoTrack or similar swept path analysis tools.
  4. Ability to work with predefined CAD templates and adapt them as needed.
  5. Excellent attention to detail and a methodical approach to problem-solving.
  6. Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines.
  7. Ability to work independently while collaborating with senior team members.
