Job summary

Egis, in joint venture with VVB Engineering, is seeking a CAD Technician to drive BIM Level 2 deliverables for London’s HS2 gateway station at Old Oak Common. You will support light to metro rail projects, coordinating 3D models and construction drawings to project standards.

Join a dynamic team delivering high-quality digital outputs, collaborating with the BIM Coordinator and wider project team to ensure timely, accurate information and compliant BEP adherence.

Qualifications

  • BIM Technician with at least a minimum of 3 years’ experience in major infrastructure/transportation projects.
  • Experience of working in an engineering production environment.
  • Railway, transportation or construction background.
  • Experience delivering projects to UK BIM Standards including BS1192 and ISO 19650.
  • Proficient in using Bentley software including ProjectWise, OpenBuilding Designer and MicroStation.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading the technical development of 3D CAD components from conceptual design through to detailed construction models.
  • Experience working with BEPs, TIDP, MIDP and Model Production Delivery Tables (MPDT).
  • Ability to adapt to new BIM technologies and workflows.

Responsibilities

  • Support in developing engineering designs using best practice details and bespoke solutions.
  • Contribute to the CAD best practice library.
  • Provide BIM Level 2 support from creation of documentation to validation and As Built Close Out.
  • Manage 3D CAD models, contributing in your specialized discipline.
  • Assist in the delivery and management of projects from technical design to construction stage to ensure compliance and delivered to project standards.
  • Implement best practice and consistent processes across the project, liaising with project stakeholders and the supply chain to ensure correct standards are applied.
  • Ensure quality processes and quality standards of all drawing deliverables.
  • Utilise Bentley ProjectWise with OpenBuilding Designer and MicroStation for detailed drawing creation and documentation, ensuring the information is fully coordinated.
  • Coordinate output with discipline task teams leads to ensure full coordination.
  • Lead production of high-quality design and detailed construction drawings for specific elements of railway station projects, ensuring integration with the BIM models.
  • Produce drawing output from 3D model information in line with the BEP
  • Ensure all drawings are submitted and meet project requirements.

Job description

The Anthro joint venture between Egis and VVB Engineering will provide comprehensive turn-key services for London’s state-of-the-art HS2 gateway station at Old Oak Common. We have been awarded a multi-year contract to deliver MEPHFC (Mechanical, Electrical Public Health, Fire and Communications) systems works.

The BIM Modeller plays a critical role within the Engineering Directorate, focusing on the production and coordination of high-quality 3D CAD models with embedded data and ensuring their alignment with project standards and the BIM Execution Plan.

Job Description

As a CAD Technician you will take the role in the implementation of Digital deliverables, ensuring all outputs are produced to a high standard in accordance with project requirements.

As a CAD Technician you will be an integral member of the team as it grows. You will be required to support the engineering teams in current commissions which may be 2D, 3D or BIM Level 2. We are looking for someone who will take this challenge head on, be part of a dynamic team with big ambitions. We will be looking to provide capabilities across light, heavy and metro rail systems and work alongside developing signalling and track teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supporting in developing engineering designs using best practice details and bespoke solutions

  • Lead the production of high-quality design and detailed construction drawings for specific elements of railway station projects, ensuring integration with overall project information models
  • Produce drawing output from 3D model information in line with the Component Catalogue and outline information within the BIM Execution Plan (BEP)
  • Ensure all drawings are submitted, meet the project requirements set out
  • Support and liaise with the BIM Coordinator, BIM Manager and wider project joint venture team in the implementation of deliverables adhering to specified project standards and to facilitate issue resolution
  • Ensuring accurate and timely information flow and adherence to data management standards
  • Participate in quality assurance checks of to ensure they meet the project's accuracy, detail, and the employers information requirements
  • Assist in monitoring compliance with the BEP and the supporting project standards, contributing to regular reports on BIM deliverable status
  • Work closely with other disciplines to ensure the 3D CAD models are integrated and coordinated efficiently, attending regular coordination meetings as necessary

  • Good knowledge of UK design standards such as Network Rail, HS2 and TfL
  • Experience working with BEPs, Task Information Delivery Plans (TIDP), Master Information Delivery Plans (MIDP) and Model Production Delivery Tables (MPDT)
  • Ability to adapt to new BIM technologies and workflows, demonstrating a commitment to continuous learning and improvement
