Overview
CAD and Additive Manufacturing Engineer – Location: Gloucester • Hours: 8.00 am - 4.30 pm, Monday to Friday (37.5 hours per week) • Salary: Competitive, with benefits package
Responsibilities
- Review customer CAD files to assess suitability for SLA, DLP, MSLA or FDM additive manufacturing processes, and provide build time estimates
- Modify and fix CAD models for manufacture using Materialise Magics, Autodesk Powershape or PTC Creo
- Prepare CAD files for additive manufacture, including orientation, support creation and slice setup
- Repair and modify parts for SLS manufacture
- Operate, monitor and unload AM machines, including post-processing such as support removal, washing and curing
- Work on a weekend rota to cover unloading/starting of AM machines
- Perform minor maintenance and calibration of AM machines
- Support the PU department through the creation of tooling insert CAD models and SLA masters
- Create 2D DXF/DWG CAD files from 3D customer models for vinyl sticker and transfer applications
Qualifications
- ND or degree in CAD/CAM, industrial design or engineering
- Parametric and/or surface CAD modelling experience
- Strong interest and understanding of 3D printing technologies
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, dimensions, tolerances and requirements
- Experience with software such as Materialise Magics, Autodesk Powershape, PTC Creo, and 3D printer slicers (3D Sprint, Cura, PrusaSlicer, Lychee)
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with flexibility to adapt to a fast-paced environment
- Strong timekeeping and ability to implement process improvements
