About Evtec Automotive

Evtec are an automotive parts manufacturer supplying major car companies such as Jaguar Land Rover, Ford, Aston Martin and McLaren. We are looking for a CAD Technician to join the Engineering / Projects team in Coventry to enhance the capability for the business.

Summary Of Position

The CAD Technician is responsible for managing the incoming CAD data from the customer and logging the receipt of the data in a systematic way. They will ensure this is carried out in a timely manner to allow other business functions such as purchasing & commercial to continue with the project. They should also be capable of interpreting the data to review CAD coordinates in order to validate supplier documentation.

They will also be expected to carry out other administrative tasks such as generating assembly fixture specifications and looking after tooling tracking sheets. They will predominantly be self-managed with regular reports back to the Senior Process and Tooling Engineer and Engineering Manager.

Core Responsibilities
  1. Act as a point of contact for all customers for any CAD related activities and coordinating the downloading of data from customer portals.
  2. Work closely with Engineers and other departments in reviewing and interpreting customer CAD data and breaking out individual components where necessary.
  3. Control the CAD filing process to ensure that all customer CAD data is logged correctly within designated project files.
  4. Work closely with tooling engineers to generate supplier fixture specifications to aid in the assembly of the components.
  5. Have a good understanding of GD&T (Geometrical Dimensioning & Tolerancing) to support customer & supplier drawing reviews and to provide feedback.
  6. Must have proven experience in using Catia V5 and generating basic engineering drawings to support in-house modifications / supplier requests.
  7. Support engineering and other departments with any CAD related requests.
  8. Complete administrative tasks such as running and managing weekly tooling review meetings and being the point of contact for tooling suppliers.

Desired Experience Profile
  1. Knowledge of 3DX (Advantageous but not essential)
  2. Knowledge of automotive systems and IATF (Advantageous but not essential)
  3. An understanding of fluid management (Advantageous but not essential)
