We are looking for a CAD Software Engineer to join the team to play a critical role in building software solutions to enhance and amplify the work of our Engineering and Operations groups. This Software Development role offers the unique opportunity to work with a highly specialised user base at Atlassian Williams Racing on state-of-the-art simulations, real time data, bespoke analysis tools, and enabling operational excellence. With a specialism in CAD automation, you will be improving the engineering development cycle by providing tools to enhance or replace existing manual processes used to design and manufacture the race car which, in-turn, will improve on-track performance.
The Software Development group develops bespoke software to support our Engineering and Operations functions at Williams Racing. The group is composed of several software development teams that focus on areas such as Aerodynamics, Vehicle Dynamics and Vehicle Performance.
We aim to leverage the right tools and technologies for the right job. We have a large estate of software including desktop applications in C# and C++, web applications in React, analysis tools in Python and other scientific computing languages, and a variety of backend services in C#. As part of our modernization journey, we are adopting cloud native technologies alongside modern data platforms.
Main responsibilities will include:
Collaborating with users and the wider Software Development team to research, develop and implement innovative software solutions
Enhancingexisting systems by improving reliability, performance, and scale
Understanding the needs of a wide range of users across Atlassian Williams Racing
Collaborating with other technology groups in the company to enhance and develop the shared data platform and services
Streamlining our own software development process, enabling us to deliver more to our customers
Providing application support through race weekend events where necessary
Contributing toward improving software processes within the Engineering and Operations groups
Skills and experience required:
Degree in Computer Science or a related field involving software development
Experience with software development, testing, and CI in languages such as C#, Go, Java, C++, Python, or Typescript
Experience working with software process management tools and source control (e.g. Azure DevOps and Git)
Previous experience working with at least one CAD tool (Siemens NX preferred but not essential)
A collaborative and curious approach to technical problem-solving
Strong desire to build impactful solutions for Engineering users
Ability to work with a wide range of groups and disciplines seamlessly
Ability to adapt to rapidly evolving requirements
Demonstrated out of the box approach and readiness to learn new technologies rapidly
Strong communication skills at all levels
Exposure to the following would be beneficial:
Containerization, DevOps, and Cloud Platforms such as Azure or AWS
Experience in logging, monitoring, and observability
Using document, object, or timeseries datastores or other non-relational stores to solve bespoke problems
Experience in aerodynamics, data science, vehicle dynamics or computer simulations
