Tony Gee is seeking a CAD Manager to provide technical leadership in CAD systems, technical drawing, and modelling across the business.

Supporting our Infrastructure sectors across the UK, you will work with multi-disciplinary teams to improve consistency, efficiency, and quality in design deliverables, ensuring they align with client, project, and industry standards.

As CAD Manager, you will play a key role in integrating with project leadership teams and ensuring adherence to company and client standards. You will also bring together technician networks, fostering collaboration, knowledge-sharing, and skills development across the business

Responsibilities

  • Development and implementation of a UK-wide strategy to enhance CAD quality and efficiency.
  • Establish and maintain CAD standards, workflows, and best practices, ensuring consistency across UK projects.
  • Conduct audits, technical reviews, and compliance checks to support project teams.
  • Identify and implement process improvements, driving efficiency and technical quality.
  • Mentor and support technicians, promoting skills development and best practices.
  • Report to senior leadership on CAD quality, efficiency, and skills development.
  • Work with innovation teams to assess and implement emerging CAD technologies and automation solutions.

Experience

  • Extensive experience in CAD delivery, technical drawing, and modelling.
  • Strong technical knowledge of AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Revit, and other CAD software.
  • Experience in developing and implementing CAD standards across projects.
  • Familiarity with Common Data Environments (e.g., Autodesk Construction Cloud, BIM360, ProjectWise).
  • Experience mentoring technicians and improving CAD capability in teams.
  • Strong collaboration skills, engaging with technicians, engineers, BIM specialists, and project leaders.
  • Clear communicator, experienced in training, mentoring, and technical leadership.
  • Working to client CAD standards (e.g., National Highways GG184).
  • Highways or power sector experience.
  • Automation or scripting skills (e.g., Dynamo, AutoLISP, Python, VBA).
  • Achieved or working towards a professional qualification.
  • Motivated and capable of driving self-development.
  • Clear and effective communication skills.
  • Strong time management and organisational skills.
  • Comfortable delivering presentations and training.
  • Problem-solving mindset with a proactive approach.
