Tony Gee is seeking a CAD Manager to provide technical leadership in CAD systems, technical drawing, and modelling across the business.
Supporting our Infrastructure sectors across the UK, you will work with multi-disciplinary teams to improve consistency, efficiency, and quality in design deliverables, ensuring they align with client, project, and industry standards.
As CAD Manager, you will play a key role in integrating with project leadership teams and ensuring adherence to company and client standards. You will also bring together technician networks, fostering collaboration, knowledge-sharing, and skills development across the business
Responsibilities
- Development and implementation of a UK-wide strategy to enhance CAD quality and efficiency.
- Establish and maintain CAD standards, workflows, and best practices, ensuring consistency across UK projects.
- Conduct audits, technical reviews, and compliance checks to support project teams.
- Identify and implement process improvements, driving efficiency and technical quality.
- Mentor and support technicians, promoting skills development and best practices.
- Report to senior leadership on CAD quality, efficiency, and skills development.
- Work with innovation teams to assess and implement emerging CAD technologies and automation solutions.
Experience
- Extensive experience in CAD delivery, technical drawing, and modelling.
- Strong technical knowledge of AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Revit, and other CAD software.
- Experience in developing and implementing CAD standards across projects.
- Familiarity with Common Data Environments (e.g., Autodesk Construction Cloud, BIM360, ProjectWise).
- Experience mentoring technicians and improving CAD capability in teams.
- Strong collaboration skills, engaging with technicians, engineers, BIM specialists, and project leaders.
- Clear communicator, experienced in training, mentoring, and technical leadership.
- Working to client CAD standards (e.g., National Highways GG184).
- Highways or power sector experience.
- Automation or scripting skills (e.g., Dynamo, AutoLISP, Python, VBA).
- Achieved or working towards a professional qualification.
- Motivated and capable of driving self-development.
- Clear and effective communication skills.
- Strong time management and organisational skills.
- Comfortable delivering presentations and training.
- Problem-solving mindset with a proactive approach.
