Overview Of Project/role

We are seeking an experienced and capable CAD engineer to join our digital engineering team. The role involves providing technical services across the business, particularly within civil/structural and the built environment disciplines. The position includes producing detailed design drawings and supporting engineering colleagues in developing design solutions for various projects using CAD and BIM modelling.

The engineer will be part of the project design team, collaborating with engineers from various disciplines to deliver design outputs based on the project's requirements. This role offers extensive experience and the opportunity to develop skills and knowledge through each assignment. Additionally, there is the opportunity to participate in significant projects and contribute to the development of infrastructure for the capital transport system.

Key Accountabilities

• Focuses on the production of engineering drawings & digital designs models within their stated discipline or functional specialism, through the application of specialist CAD, simulation and illustrative software tools aligned to relevant standards and governance
• Maintains awareness of applicable standards, design guidance and regulation codes applicable to their discipline or functional specialism
• Maintains working knowledge of industry standard design software, applicable to their discipline or functional specialism
• Supports continuous improvement through the use of best practice, innovation, whole life cost optimisation and effective root cause analysis

• Perficient in the use of Bentley Microstation & Project Wise (CAD applications) to produce high quality engineering design drawings and graphical information in both 2D & 3D
• High level of integrity.
• Able to act on own initiative.
• Highly motivated, with a real passion for personal development

Knowledge

• Excellent knowledge of Bentley Microstation & Project Wise
• Awareness of Bentley Open Building Designer
• Good knowledge of BIM, GIS, and other associated digital engineering tools and their application
• Good knowledge of a relevant engineering discipline or functional specialism such as the built environment, civil engineering or MEP
• Good understanding of the interfaces between own discipline / functional specialism and the wider transport system.
• Good knowledge of the design life cycle.
• Basic level of commercial awareness of developments in BIM, CAD, GIS products, asset information systems, processes and industry best practices
• Basic knowledge of relevant TfL, British and International standards
• Basic awareness of the TfL business, its obligations and priorities
• Basic awareness of the TfL Vision, Mayoral Transport Strategy, Business priorities and financial constraints
• Awareness of applicable health & safety legislation, industry best practice, standards and guidance
• Good knowledge of rail
  
  

Experience

• Minimum of 2 years' experience working in a CAD environment working to industry standards, within a team providing professional digital CAD engineering support to both minor schemes and major projects, where a methodical and analytical approach to work is required.
• Experience of building relationships and collaborating with a wide range of stakeholders at all levels mainly within and occasionally outside of the organisation.
