Job description

Terumo Aortic seeking a skilled CAD Engineer to join our Research and Development team. The successful candidate will support the development of Class III medical devices through the creation and management of technical drawings, design tooling, and the continuous improvement of drawing and design processes. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in a highly regulated, innovative, and collaborative engineering environment.

Key Responsibilities;

  • Develop and maintain 2D and 3D CAD models and detailed design drawings (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or Solid Edge preferred)
  • Ensure all drawings adhere to Design Control and Change Control procedures
  • Support the development and verification of Class III medical devices
  • Manage the review and improvement of existing drawings and associated processes
  • Coach and mentor junior team members, sharing best practices
  • Support product development and operations teams in tooling design and scale model production (including 3D printing)
  • Collaborate across departments to develop procedures and documentation
  • Participate in feasibility studies, concept evaluations, and innovation processes
  • Contribute to verification and validation activities
  • Deliver clear technical documentation and reports
  • Ensure compliance with relevant quality standards and internal quality objectives

Qualifications & Experience;

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Material Science, or related field (BSc or equivalent)
  • Strong hands-on experience with 2D and 3D CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, SolidEdge)
  • Proven experience in an engineering role within a regulated environment, ideally medical devices
  • Demonstrated project coordination and process improvement experience
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams
  • Strong organisational and time management skills; familiarity with MS Project a plus
  • Decision-making skills with a focus on quality and compliance
  • Familiarity with documentation requirements aligned to Design Control and Quality Systems
