CAD Engineer Job Description

We are seeking a CAD Engineer for our client in the automotive industry, based in Peterborough.

The ideal candidate will deliver innovative designs and solutions, acting as a key engineering link within the company and possessing extensive CAD experience.

Job Overview

1. Manage the complete design lifecycle, from concept to prototyping, ensuring projects meet timelines and budgets.
2. Engage in hands-on activities such as prototyping, testing, and refining designs physically.
3. Collaborate with sales, manufacturing, and operations teams to integrate design concepts effectively.
4. Keep updated on industry trends, new technologies, and competitor products.
5. Promote continuous improvement by exploring new materials, technologies, and design methods.
6. Establish and maintain design standards for quality and consistency across projects.
7. Conduct regular design reviews and provide constructive feedback for team development.
8. Communicate design ideas clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.

Job Requirements

• Degree in Automotive Design, Automotive Engineering, or related field.
• Proficiency in 2D & 3D CAD software, preferably SolidWorks.
• Strong portfolio demonstrating successful design projects.
• Understanding of manufacturing processes and materials.
• Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Resident within commuting distance of Peterborough.

Salary & Benefits

• Salary range: £35,000 to £45,000, dependent on experience and qualifications.
• Full-time, Monday to Friday position.
• Company pension scheme.
• 28 days holiday, including bank holidays.
