Legrand has an exciting opportunity for a Drafter I to join the Data Center Power & Control Division Starline Team in Reading, UK. The Drafter I is responsible for creating mechanical and electrical drawings of low complexity using a 3D CAD system and associated BOM via ERP system. Works under clearly defined guidelines and under close supervision of manager, engineers, and other Draftsmen.

What Will You Do?

  1. Create dimensioned drawings and 3D models based on input from engineers and customers.
  2. Perform basic design work on components as directed including 3D library components and assemblies.
  3. Create parts lists for new products.
  4. Create catalog pages, illustrations, and animations; support work within ERP system.
  5. Perform a variety of tasks related to new design and project work, including but not limited to Purchasing support, Quality, and Production assistance.
  6. Engineering Change Notification (ECN) activities.

Qualifications

Required Skills

Education:

  1. Two-year technical degree, Associates in Mechanical or Electrical Drafting preferred or equivalent experience.
  2. Working knowledge of AutoCAD Inventor or similar CAD system.
  3. Previous intern experience is a plus.
  4. Autodesk certification preferred.

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:

  1. Aptitude for electro-mechanical products and applications.
  2. Drafting: Ability to create 3D models and assemblies in a CAD environment.
  3. Mechanical aptitude: ability to work with those who build, assemble, and other Production functions.
  4. General electrical knowledge is a plus including the ability to perform low complexity wiring diagrams.

Personal Qualities/Behaviors:

  1. The performance of this position may occasionally require exposure to the manufacturing areas where, under certain areas, the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses and mandatory hearing protection are required.
  2. Ability to sit for prolonged periods of time.
  3. Able to lift and carry up to 25lbs.
