Job summary

mode transport planning is seeking a Design Technician with at least 2 years of design experience, preferably in highway design or within a transport planning practice. You will produce preliminary highway layouts using AutoCAD and related drawings such as car parks, bus stations, footways and cycle routes, with AutoTrack and GIS/Corel Draw work as needed.

The role requires strong communication and numeracy skills, and a proactive approach to design tasks.

Qualifications

• Formal education in Civil Engineering, Geography or Transport Planning (HNC/HND/Degree).
• Excellent communication skills with a high standard of work ethic.
• Numeracy and literacy with precise attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Prepare technical drawings using AutoCAD.
• Preliminary design of access and basic junction design (priority, roundabouts, signalisation).
• Perform Swept Path Analysis using AutoTrack.
• Prepare high quality graphics using GIS and Corel Draw.
• Demonstrate excellent communication skills.
• Maintain accuracy and attention to detail in all drawings.

Job description

We are currently seeking a Design Technician with at least 2 years design experience, preferably in Highway Design or within a transport planning practice.

As a member of the technical team your main responsibilities would be the production of preliminary highway and junction design layouts using AutoCAD and the production of other design drawings such as car parks, bus stations, footways and cycle routes. The role also requires a good working knowledge to AutoTrack software. In addition to these main responsibilities the production of report figures using various software packages including CORELDRAW and/or GIS would be advantageous.

The candidate
