AWD online is seeking a CAD / CAM Programmer to turn customer drawings and models into production-ready manufacturing information in a busy subcontract engineering environment. You will prepare clear manufacturing packs by combining CAD drawings, models and offline CNC programs to support quality and on-time delivery.

The role requires strong CNC machining knowledge, engineering drawing skills and a precise, structured approach.

Qualifications

• Previous experience producing drawings and models and carrying out offline programming.
• Strong understanding of CNC machining and engineering drawings.
• Able to read engineering drawings and understand tolerances and GDTs.
• Experience with CAD/CAM and manufacturing documentation.
• Strong attention to quality and accuracy with a structured approach.
• Able to identify issues early and solve problems effectively.
• Organised and able to manage multiple jobs.
• Desirable: Experience using Discus software or similar.
• Desirable: Measurement skills using manual or digital equipment.

Responsibilities

SALARY: £16.00 - £20.00 per hour + Benefits

LOCATION: Saltburn-by-the-Sea, North Yorkshire, North East England

JOB TYPE: Full-Time, Permanent

WORKING HOURS: Monday to Thursday 08:00-16:30, Friday 07:00-13:00. Flexible working can be applied to this role. This is an on-site role; hybrid or home working is not available.

JOB OVERVIEW

This is an opportunity to turn customer drawings and models into accurate, production-ready manufacturing information within a busy subcontract engineering environment.

The CAD / CAM Programmer will prepare clear manufacturing packs, combining CAD drawings, models and offline CNC programs to support quality and on-time delivery.

Working closely with production, the CAD / CAM Programmer will identify drawing issues early, simulate programs and help jobs move smoothly into manufacture.

The CAD / CAM Programmer will also contribute to how work is planned and executed, with ongoing professional development supported.

DUTIES

Your duties as the CAD / CAM Programmer include:

• 2D Drawing and 3D Modelling: Create accurate drawings and models for production

• Drawing Review: Check client drawings and identify missing or conflicting dimensions and tolerances

• CNC Programming and Simulation: Produce CNC programs offline and run simulations to prove out work before production

• Manufacturing Documentation: Create manufacturing packs, ballooned drawings and feature lists

• Production Support: Provide drawing and documentation support to production

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

ESSENTIAL
