Drafty AI, backed by RudraX, seeks a CAD Automation Engineer to own the SOLIDWORKS add-in and automation engine. You will transform 3D models into fully dimensioned, standards-compliant 2D drawings and automate views, BOMs, and exports, collaborating with ML engineers to blend rules with intelligent decisions.

You will work in a Founding-level role shaping core product capabilities, with competitive salary and equity, and flexible or remote working options in the UK.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience building on the SOLIDWORKS API (add-ins or automation).
• Strong C# and .NET proficiency with CAD-related automation.
• Solid understanding of manufacturing drawings and GD&T.

# CAD Automation EngineerEngineeringHybridFull-time## About the role### About Drafty AIDrafty AI turns 3D CAD models into production-ready 2D manufacturing drawings. We are SOLIDWORKS-native and process everything in-tool, so a customer's geometry never leaves their machine. Our engine pairs a deterministic rules layer with machine learning to produce release-ready drawings, flat patterns, bills of materials and exports, and to flag only the drawings that genuinely need a person.We are early, backed by RudraX, and already running pilots with UK manufacturers. This is a chance to build the core of the product, not to maintain someone else's.### The roleYou will own the layer where our software meets the CAD system. You will build and extend our SOLIDWORKS add-in, drive the CAD API integration, and turn a 3D model into a fully dimensioned, standards-compliant 2D drawing package, programmatically. You will work closely with our rules and ML engineers to decide what the automation does on its own and where a human is still needed.This is a hands-on, high-ownership role. What you build is the product.## What you'll do### What you will do• Build and maintain our SOLIDWORKS add-in and automation engine using the SOLIDWORKS API.• Programmatically create drawing views, dimensions, annotations, title blocks, BOMs and balloons from 3D parts and assemblies.• Automate sheet-metal outputs: flat patterns, bend tables, and DXF, DWG and PDF exports.• Encode drawing standards and company conventions (ASME Y14 and ISO) as reliable, testable rules.• Work with the ML team to combine deterministic logic with model-driven decisions, and to route exceptions cleanly.• Extend support over time to further CAD systems such as AutoCAD and Inventor.• Keep the code robust and well tested. It runs inside a customer's live CAD environment, so reliability is not optional.## What we're looking for### What we are looking for (essential)* Hands-on experience building on the *SOLIDWORKS API* (add-ins, or serious macro and automation work), or a comparable CAD API such as AutoCAD .NET / ObjectARX, Autodesk Inventor, Creo Toolkit or Solid Edge.* Strong *C# and .NET*, the primary stack for SOLIDWORKS add-ins.
