Job summary

A prominent organization in the UK is seeking a Cabling Installation Engineer to join their installation team. The role involves primary and secondary containment system installations, as well as the installation and testing of Cat6 cabling solutions. Ideal candidates are experienced with copper cabling, possess solid testing knowledge, and are eligible for SC clearance. This opportunity offers a structured working pattern over a fortnight.

Qualifications

• Experienced with Category 5e and 6 cabling.
• Able to work both independently and within a team.
• Eligible for SC clearance.

Responsibilities

• Install and test Cat6 or Cat6A cabling solutions.
• Perform network switch installations and copper patching.
• Conduct termination and labelling of cabling.

Skills

We are looking for a Cabling Installation Engineer to work as part of the installation team carrying out works detailed below to deliver customer projects at our client site based in Reading (RG7).

Core responsibilities

• Primary and secondary containment system installations
• Installation of Cat6 or Cat6A horizontal cabling solutions
• Termination, Testing & labelling of Cat6 / Cat6A solutions
• Network switch installation
• Copper patching

Requirements

• Experience of terminating copper cabling (Category 5e, category 6 etc)
• Experience of testing both fibre optic and copper cables using Fluke Testers
• Good working knowledge of current installation practices
• Experience in the installation of containment systems (both Steel and PVC)
• Knowledge of OTDR testing would be an advantage.
• Focused and able to work within a team and independently.
• Eligible for SC clearance

Working pattern: You will be working a 75-hour fortnight (over 9 days) Monday to Thursday 07:30 to 16:30 (both weeks), working Friday 07:30 to 14:30 (week 1), and non-working Friday off (week 2).
