Cable Repair Technician

The Cables Technician/Wire Technician will be responsible carrying out and maintaining a consistent throughput of cable repairs on both power and data cables.

Duties and Responsibilities for the Cable Repair Technician:

• To identify and safely fault find issues on a range of electrical and data cables including single and three phase cabling, DMX and Ethercon.
• Undertaking electrical and mechanical repairs on a variety of cabling in a safe and professional manner.
• Termination of cut down cables to reinstate into rental stock.
• Wiring, soldering, cable stripping, assembly and termination of a range of connections both for power cables and data cables.
• Creating Wiring Looms
• To research parts and equipment required to effect repairs on cabling you have assessed.
• Preparing equipment to be sent to external suppliers for repair
• Broad testing of completed repairs (including PAT) before managing the return to stock.
• Work with the Repairs Inventory Technician to ensure stock repair supplies are maintained at appropriate levels.
• Written documentation of measures taken to complete repairs and providing advice to repairs administrator if pricing is not accurate in relation to work undertaken.

Experience/Skills required

• Prior cable/electrical repairs experience including 3 phase
• IT literate with a good understanding of Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Must be able to confidently communicate with internal colleagues and external suppliers.
• Be able to build strong working relationships with colleagues.
• Self-motivated and organised with the ability to plan workload and keep track of multiple jobs.
