Unify is recruiting a Cable Jointer / HV Fitter to join a field-based team across Yorkshire and the North of England. You will perform cable jointing, substation work up to 33kV, and assist with transformers and switchgear installations while upholding safety and quality standards.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Cable Jointer or HV fitter in electrical distribution projects.

• Ability to work in substation environments and outdoor sites.
• Experience with transformers, switchgear and protection equipment is a plus.

About the Opportunity

Unify HQ are recruiting on behalf of a well-established utility and electrical infrastructure contractor delivering major network upgrade, maintenance and connection projects across Yorkshire and the North of England.

Due to continued growth, we are seeking an experienced Cable Jointer / HV Fitter to join a specialist field-based team carrying out cable jointing, substation installation, refurbishment and asset replacement works on electricity distribution networks up to 33kV.

This is an excellent opportunity for individuals with a background in cable jointing, HV fitting, switchgear installation, substation construction, or electrical infrastructure projects who are looking to progress their career within a growing and forward-thinking organisation.

Key Responsibilities

• Install and terminate underground cable systems, including both polymeric and paper-lead cable networks.
• Carry out jointing, termination and testing activities on LV and HV distribution systems up to 33kV.
• Support the installation, replacement and commissioning of transformers, switchgear, protection equipment and associated substation assets.
• Install and replace multicore, control and earthing cables as part of network upgrade projects.
• Work safely within operational substations and construction environments.
• Assist with cable identification, phasing, testing and commissioning activities.
• Maintain company equipment, tools and test instruments in accordance with safety and quality standards.
• Contribute to a positive safety culture and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
• Work closely with Site Managers, SAPs, Engineers and Project Teams to deliver projects safely and efficiently.
• Progress through internal authorisation and competency programmes where applicable.

What We're Looking For

Essential

• Experience as a Cable Jointer, Jointer's Mate, HV Fitter, Electrical Fitter or Substation Operative.
• Practical experience working on electrical distribution or infrastructure projects.
• Good understanding of electrical safety procedures and site-based working practices.
• Experience using electrical installation tools, equipment and hand tools.
• Full UK Driving Licence.
• Strong commitment to health, safety and quality standards.

Desirable

• Previous DNO authorisations (NPG, ENW, SPEN, UKPN, SSE or equivalent).
• Experience working within substations up to 33kV.
• ECS, CSCS or National Grid Persons certification.
• Manual Handling and Site Safety qualifications.
• Knowledge of cable testing, fault location or commissioning activities.
