Cable Assembly Technician

Location: Hungerford, Berkshire

Salary: £26,000 - £30,000 Per Annum

Jackie Kerr Recruitment is working with a specialist manufacturer of cables for sectors including Military & Defence, Oil & Gas, and Broadcasting. They seek an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join their team on a long-term, permanent basis.

The successful candidate will be hands-on from day one, joining a friendly, supportive team. Full training will be provided. The key qualities are a positive attitude, willingness to learn, and pride in doing the job well.

Cable Assembly Technician Duties:
  1. Cable Assembly and Testing: Prepare, terminate, and test fibre optic and copper cable assemblies, adhering to high-quality standards and deadlines.
  2. Technical Work: Read and understand technical drawings and work orders; identify cables, connectors, and components; operate production machinery.
  3. Quality Assurance: Use microscopes and test equipment (OTDR, Light Source & Power Meters) to inspect, diagnose faults, and verify performance.
  4. Production Support: Pick components, maintain stock and records.
  5. Housekeeping: Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workspace.
  6. Team Collaboration: Work closely with colleagues and managers to deliver results.
The Ideal Candidate:
  • Strong work ethic and pride in quality.

  • Self-motivated with a positive attitude.
  • Attention to detail and ability to follow drawings and procedures.
  • Good dexterity and physical ability.
  • Experience in cable assembly or fibre optic termination preferred.
