Job summary

Chess Dynamics Ltd in Horsham is recruiting a Cable Assembler to join the team. You will work on prototype and production assemblies, reading drawings and ensuring modifications are documented.

We offer a 37.5 hour week with hybrid/flexible working, 28 days leave, pension and wellbeing benefits as part of a comprehensive package.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in a similar role required; MIL-STDs preferred.
  • Ability to read technical wiring diagrams.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble equipment to drawings on prototype and production builds.
  • Document modifications during build and flag change requests.
  • Liaise with production control when kits are incomplete.
  • Crimp pins onto wires and fit connectors.
  • Lace cables with Kevlar or Nylon Cord.
  • Apply braid/heatshrink over cable looms.
  • Verify cable dimensions with basic measuring equipment.
  • Conduct continuity testing on cables.
  • Label cable assemblies for identification.
  • Assist cabling team in fitting and populating connectors.
  • Solder wires into connectors.

Due to substantial and continued growth over the past few years, an exciting new opportunity has arisen for a Cable Assembler to join our team in Horsham. Reporting directly to the Cabling Supervisor, you will provide support across all areas of the production process.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Working on both prototype and production assemblies, accurately assembling equipment to drawings.
  • Ensuring any modifications during the Build process are documented and highlighted to the Team Leader so change requests can be implemented.
  • Liaising with production control when kits are incomplete.
  • Crimping pins onto wires and fitting connectors to drawings.
  • Lacing cables using Kevlar or Nylon Cord.
  • Applying braid/heatshrink over cable looms.
  • Verifying cable dimensions using basic measuring equipment.
  • Continuity testing of all cables.
  • Applying identification labels to cable assemblies.
  • Help run crimp pull-off tests.
  • Fitting and shrinking of connector environmental boots.
  • Assist the cabling team in fitting and populating connectors.
  • Soldering wires into connectors.
Skills & Experience
Essential
  • Proven experience in a similar role is required, working to MIL-STDs is preferred.
  • Good problem solving skills with an ability to read technical wiring diagrams.
Desirable
  • Knowledge of wiring standards IPC 620 and 610 would be advantageous
