Job summary

TP ICAP Group in London seeks a Software Engineer to develop and maintain high-performance C++ systems used for price discovery and analytics across asset classes. You will collaborate with quants and brokers, modernise code while keeping stability, and contribute to the full SDLC in a hybrid work setting.

Ideal candidates have 2–3 years' C++ experience, strong debugging skills and a growth mindset in a finance-tech environment.

Qualifications

• Around 2–3 years' commercial C++ experience.
• Proficiency in modern C++ (C++11/14/17 or later).
• Solid understanding of the STL, memory management, RAII and pointer semantics.
• Comfortable communicating directly with non-technical users.
• Familiarity with unit testing (e.g. Catch2).
• Experience with the software development lifecycle in a technical role.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and test C++ features, and see them safely to production.
• Work across legacy and modern C++, modernising while keeping systems stable.
• Help estimate work and discuss solutions with the team.
• Learn the domain and codebase from senior engineers.
• Support refactoring towards target-state architecture.
• Contribute to the team's SDLC: planning, prioritisation and delivery.
• Work directly with end users (quants and brokers) to deliver what they need.
