Job summary

VanRath's client in Belfast is seeking a Software Engineer to join a new engineering team, building a cloud-native platform with C# and .NET 8+ on AWS. You will design, develop and test backend services and APIs within a cloud-based distributed architecture and collaborate with senior engineers across cross-functional teams.

You will work in an Agile environment, partner with Business Analysts and Product Owners, and expand your skills across full-stack areas, including modern front-end tech

Qualifications

• Proven experience developing software with C# and .NET 8+.
• Strong back-end development with C#.
• Experience building RESTful APIs.
• Familiarity with GraphQL.
• Experience delivering reusable services in platform teams.
• Proficient with Git and modern version control.
• Understanding cloud-based distributed architectures.
• Experience or interest in AWS and cloud-native technologies.
• Experience with AWS CDK / IaC; Python preferred.
• Ability to work with Business Analysts and Product Owners to refine requirements.
• Strong unit and automated testing practices.
• Experience in an Agile/Scrum environment.

You will be part of a global engineering team delivering innovative technology solutions that support critical business operations. As a Software Engineer, you will contribute to the design, development and testing of robust software solutions, with a particular focus on back-end services and APIs using C# and .NET. You will work within a cloud-based distributed architecture and have the opportunity to develop your expertise across AWS, Infrastructure as Code and modern software engineering practices. You will work closely with senior engineers and cross-functional teams, contributing to solution design, Agile delivery, troubleshooting and continuous improvement. The role also provides the opportunity to broaden your technical skill set and develop T-shaped engineering capabilities across different areas of the platform.

The Person

• Professional experience developing software using C# and .NET 8+.
• Strong back-end development experience with C#.
• Experience developing RESTful APIs.
• Familiarity with GraphQL.
• Experience working within technical platform teams delivering reusable services across multiple projects.
• Experience working with Git and modern version control practices.
• Understanding of cloud-based distributed architectures.
• Experience or interest in AWS and cloud-native technologies.
• Experience with or willingness to work with AWS CDK / Infrastructure as Code, with Python preferred.
• Ability to work closely with Business Analysts and Product Owners to understand requirements and constructively challenge assumptions.
• Strong understanding of unit testing and automated testing.
• Experience working within an Agile/Scrum environment.
• Good communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts and design decisions clearly.
• Understanding of modern front-end technologies, including CSS preprocessors such as Tailwind.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.

Desirable

• Knowledge or experience within financial services or financial markets.
• Understanding of OTC products or regulatory-driven projects.
