Job summary

Matchtech's client in the buildings and manufacturing sector seeks a C&I Sales Specification Engineer to drive fire detection and alarm specifications across England. The role combines remote work with significant travel to London, Birmingham, Manchester and Leeds.

You will build strong relationships with consultants and engineers, influence design and selection, and manage opportunities from pre-tender to tender.

Qualifications

• Experience in commercial and institutional (C&I) building projects.
• Technical background within fire detection systems.
• Proven sales track record is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain strong relationships with fire consultants, M&E consultants, consulting engineers, architects, and design houses
• Influence system architecture, device selection, and compliance approaches in line with relevant standards, including BS 5839‑1
• Identify and track early-stage and pre-tender projects across various sectors
• Convert design engagement into protected specification opportunities through to tender stage
• Support consultants with system selection, network design, and compliance interpretation
• Defend specifications through value engineering challenges and cost-down exercises
• Provide feedback to product management regarding market needs and consultant preferences
• Maintain accurate CRM project reporting and share market insights with leadership

The position involves a combination of being on the road and working from home, with a focus on key areas such as London, Birmingham, Manchester, and Leeds.
