Job summary

Citi in London is seeking an AVP-level software engineer to develop and maintain applications for its Equity Derivatives Technology Risk team. The role covers a multi-year transformation across execution, prime, clearing, and cross-product margining.

You will re-engineer the technology estate to boost performance, resilience, and post-trade processes, collaborating with senior engineers and business partners.

Qualifications

  • Strong C# knowledge with exposure to .NET Framework 4.5.2+ and .NET 5+.
  • Experience on large and complex projects; performance analysis and optimization.
  • Ability to write comprehensive unit tests (NUnit, xUnit, Shouldly).
  • Familiarity with OpenAPI/Swagger, REST, authentication, TLS.
  • Experience with high-volume financial systems or trading platforms.
  • Broad tech exposure: Python, Java, Bash; Linux OS.
  • Version control and CI/CD: Git, GitHub/GitLab.
  • Messaging: Kafka, RabbitMQ, Solace.
  • Strong communication and independent working style.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain applications for the Equity Derivatives Technology Risk team.
  • Lead part of multi-year transformation across equities platform.
  • Improve performance, resiliency, and post-trade processes.
  • Collaborate with engineers and partners to deliver next-gen equity tech.
  • Conduct performance testing and profiling for high-volume data.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve code issues and bottlenecks.
  • Use tools to identify system enhancements.
  • Take on assigned responsibilities as required.

Job description

Salary: £62,000 - 102,000 per year

Requirements:
  • Strong C# knowledge with exposure to .Net Framework 4.5.2+ and .Net 5+
  • Good understanding of algorithms, system design and architecture, design patterns, implementation, and unit testing
  • Experience in a developer role on large and complex projects
  • Understanding of .Net performance analysis and optimization approaches
  • Ability to write comprehensive unit tests using frameworks such as NUnit, xUnit, Shouldly, or equivalents
  • Familiarity with web technologies including OpenAPI/Swagger, REST, authentication, and TLS
  • Experience or familiarity with high-volume, low-latency, highly available financial systems, trading platforms, or financial data processing
  • Broad technical experience with exposure to languages such as Python, Java, and Bash, as well as operating systems such as Linux
  • Experience with version control and CI/CD tools such as Git and GitLab/GitHub
  • Understanding of messaging technologies such as Kafka, RabbitMQ, or Solace
  • Strong understanding of design patterns and how to use them to solve complex technical problems
  • Proven ability to work with development team members and other partners with minimal supervision
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to learn new skills quickly and work with attention to detail
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and program execution skills
  • Ability to manage work, time, and resources efficiently

  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve code issues and performance bottlenecks
  • Use script tools and code analysis to identify and define necessary system enhancements
  • Take on assigned job responsibilities as required
