Job Title: Buying Category Manager

We are seeking a strategic and commercially focused Buying Category Manager to join our Buying team. In your role, you will:

  1. Identify, source, monitor, and maintain a credible product range within multiple product group sub-sections, ensuring all products meet the demands of Draper Tools' target customer groups.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop and manage category plans to drive profitable growth
  • Identify, source, and deliver new products to enhance categories
  • Monitor market trends and competitor strategies
  • Collaborate with Sales and Marketing to identify new opportunities
  • Identify manufacturer opportunities from current and potential suppliers
  • Ensure product quality, cost, benefits, and profitability requirements are met
  • Work with QA departments to ensure compliance with standards
  • Share product and range details across departments for consistency
  • Assist in designing and proofing product packaging and marketing materials
  • Coordinate with Supply Chain and Sales to meet availability and stock targets
  • Understand product applications and target end-user needs
Qualifications and Skills:
  • Practical interest in tools and related technology
  • Good knowledge of Draper product range
  • Proven experience as a Buyer or Category Manager
  • CIPS or similar qualifications advantageous
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize
  • Team player and friendly demeanor
  • Motivated, flexible, and open to change
  • Excellent IT skills (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Power BI)
  • Knowledge of ERP and WMS systems
