About the role

We are currently looking for an ambitious and enthusiastic Buyer to strengthen our UK procurement team, based at our Deeside office.

The purpose of the role is to maximise purchasing performance whilst controlling inventory levels, maintaining customer service excellence and enhancing safety and business profitability.

Main responsibilities

In this role you'll:

  • Maintain supply of key materials maximising volume purchasing benefits.
  • Meet target costs.
  • Undertake strategic sourcing activities utilising established business tools and templates.
  • Support the development and communication of a sourcing strategy to shape purchasing decisions.
  • Purchase goods, materials, components or services in line with specified cost, quality and delivery targets.
  • Monitor market trends and supply chain strategies.
  • Provide analysis on costs and review cost reduction activities.
  • Work closely with others in the procurement function and review opportunities for continuous and business improvements.
  • Develop and manage the contractual relationship with key suppliers to manage business risk.
  • Develop synergies either locally or within group.
  • Prepare data towards monthly performance reports.

In this role you'll need:

  • To be a team player with the ability to contribute both individually and as part of a team.
  • Self confidence with strong interpersonal skills, an excellent communicator with the ability to liaise with people at all levels.
  • Flexibility and the ability to multitask.
  • To be self motivated with a “hands on” results driven approach.
  • Strong systems skills with advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word.
  • Experience in a buying / negotiation role.
  • A CIPS qualification or similar.
  • ERP experience, ideally SAP.
