Job summary

Galliford Try is seeking an experienced Buyer to join our Procurement team. You will procure products, materials and subcontract services across projects, coordinating with designers, clients, suppliers and internal teams to deliver on time and within budget.

You will develop procurement plans, run pre-qualifications, prepare ITT, evaluate bids and manage supplier performance. A strong commercial mindset and stakeholder management skills are essential.

Qualifications

  • Significant experience within purchasing, procurement or supply chain management.
  • Strong understanding of commercial law and contract conditions.
  • Excellent commercial awareness and contractual experience.
  • Degree qualified in a Procurement, Engineering, Technical or related discipline is desirable.
  • Relevant professional qualification would be advantageous.
  • Full Membership of CIPS preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint.

  • Develop, agree and issue procurement plans for projects and programmes of work.
  • Carry out supplier and subcontractor pre-qualification assessments.
  • Prepare scopes of work for products, materials and subcontract services.
  • Prepare and issue ITT documentation following receipt of requisitions.
  • Undertake bid evaluations to identify the most appropriate suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Create, approve and issue purchase orders and subcontract agreements.
  • Manage and expedite delivery to meet programme requirements.
  • Monitor and report procurement performance against budgets.
  • Support pre-construction teams through a structured procurement approach during bid stages.
  • Ensure effective use of supplier approval and performance management processes.
  • Manage and resolve supplier performance issues and commercial disputes.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers to drive value.
  • Identify, capture and share procurement best practice across the business.
  • Provide guidance and support to the procurement team.
  • Contribute to delivery of goods, materials and services on time, within budget and to quality standards.

Job description

We are seeking an experienced Buyer to join our Procurement team. In this role, you will be responsible for the procurement of products, materials and subcontract services across projects and programmes of work. You will play a crucial role in supporting successful project delivery through the effective coordination of designers, clients, supply chain partners and internal delivery teams. Working collaboratively with a broad range of stakeholders, you will help ensure the most cost-effective and efficient procurement solutions are secured while maintaining quality, compliance and programme requirements., As a Buyer, you will:
