Job summary

First Choice Recruitment Services in Worcestershire is seeking a permanent, office-based Buyer & Product Developer. Salary around £40K depending on experience, with scope to influence new product ranges and supplier relationships.

You will collaborate with the senior buying and design teams to source, cost out, buy, and create new ranges across houseware categories. You will analyse quotes, negotiate pricing, manage critical paths, and ensure timely deliveries while maintaining brand vision.

Qualifications

• Previous experience within a product development or buying team - Essential
• Good knowledge of homewares/tableware or a keen interest in this area
• Knowledge of buying and supplying products to retailers
• Knowledge of sourcing ceramic tableware from outside of China desirable
• Strong Microsoft Office skills including Excel and Outlook essential
• Keen attention to detail and accuracy
• Strong verbal, written communication and negotiation skills
• Ability to coordinate several projects simultaneously
• Capable of thriving in fast paced environments
• Methodical, analytical and organised
• Trend aware and insightful of competitor activity

Responsibilities

• Work with senior buying, design teams and external teams to create new product ranges in houseware categories

• Ensure products meet quality standards

Buyer & Product Developer

Worcestershire, Permanent, Full time office based. Salary cGBP40K depending on experience.

First Choice Recruitment are very pleased to be supporting our award winning client with their recruitment for a Buyer to join their dynamic team.

This is an exciting time as they have experienced strong growth and have new exciting clients and product ranges to work with. Our client specialises in supplying tableware and homewares to high end stores. In this role you would be working alongside the Senior Buying and Product Development Team to source, cost out, buy and create new ranges. Therefore product development as well as buying are key responsibilities for this role and experience of both will be necessary.

Key Responsibilities

• Working with the senior buying, design team and external teams collaboratively to create exciting new product ranges in various houseware categories, including kitchenware and tableware.
• Complete regular range reviews, refining product offering based on customer feedback, sales and trend. Ability to analyse complex data to drive decisions and strategies
• Drive the creative process from initial concept to end product, creating and maintaining the brand vision.
• Analyse quotes, confidently negotiate pricing with suppliers in line with company margin requirements.
• Critical path management, ensuring all key dates are adhered to.
• Liaising closely with the design team on writing new briefs and packaging specifications.
• Sample review and management, including tracking, unpacking, and identifying areas for improvement.
• Liaising with external teams and Far East sourcing offices to obtain samples, provide feedback and resolve queries.
• Present new concepts and range reviews internally to senior level, and externally to license holders and customers.
• Online and in-store product research, analysing trends and identifying range opportunities.
• Working with the Far East sourcing team and UK warehouse to ensure that all deliveries satisfy the assigned purchase orders.
• Sourcing new supply routes around Europe and Asia.
• Identifying quality standards and ensuring that all products meet those standards.
• Working closely with a Buyer s Admin Assistant, including management and coaching.
• Follow all health and safety procedures, company policies and operational standards.

Salary will be negotiable depending on experience.

NB: Our client is currently in temporary accommodation in Evesham but could relocate to either Worcester or Evesham in the near future so candidates will need to leave within easy travel distance of either location.
