Exciting Opportunity to Join the Civil Works Alliance (CWA) - Buyer Role Available
Are you ready to take on a key role within the Sizewell C (SZC) project? We are looking for an experienced Buyer to join the Civil Works Alliance (CWA) team in London. As part of the world-class SZC development, you’ll have the opportunity to contribute to the procurement and supply chain activities that will shape the UK’s future nuclear energy landscape.
The Role:
As a Buyer, you will play a crucial role in supporting the procurement strategies and supply chain engagement for one of the UK’s most ambitious projects. This is a fantastic opportunity to work alongside Procurement Managers and a dynamic team to ensure that the project's supply chain delivers maximum value. Your focus will be on sourcing suppliers, managing the tender process, and negotiating contracts that support SZC’s delivery objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist in the development and implementation of procurement strategies, ensuring alignment with project goals.
Support sourcing and tender processes, including preparing tender enquiries, managing technical and commercial reviews, and leading tender negotiations.
Contribute to the execution of contracts and ensure compliance with project procurement guidelines.
Engage with local and diverse suppliers, contributing to our commitment to sustainable procurement and hosting events like ‘Meet the Buyer’.
Support the development of the Local Sustainable Procurement Plan, ensuring that sustainability and local community involvement are at the heart of the supply chain.
Ensure procurement processes adhere to ethical standards and comply with current legislation, including nuclear regulations.
Manage supply chain performance, track effectiveness, and drive continuous improvements.
What We’re Looking For:
Essential:
Proven experience in procurement, with a solid understanding of supply chain management, negotiation, and contracting law.
A passion for managing risk and opportunities, with strong organisational skills to support the project’s objectives.
Basic experience in the workplace environment with a strong foundation in procurement knowledge.
Desirable:
Experience in the construction or nuclear industry, ideally with an understanding of nuclear behaviours and culture.
Working towards professional qualifications such as MCIPS (Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply) or other relevant industry certifications.
A keen interest in sustainability and social responsibility in procurement, particularly with local and SME engagement.
