Senior Buyer - Energy & Facility Management | Somerset or Coventry | Hybrid | Up to £60,000


The Situation:

The Civils & Infrastructure Team at Ford & Stanley are seeking an experienced Senior Buyer to join an established OEM within the automotive sector to support the build, and business operations for their £4 billion mega factory in Somerset. This new factory is the largest of its kind in the UK, and will position the company, and their products, at the forefront of the automotive sector.

As a Senior Buyer, you'll have the chance to influence key procurement strategies, work with diverse teams, and contribute directly to the success of a major automotive initiative.

With a focus on cost optimisation and supplier management, this role offers a chance to make a tangible impact within an established industry leader, driving efficiencies while enhancing your professional development in a rapidly evolving environment.


Key Responsibilities:

  1. Oversee the sourcing and procurement of the Energy and indirect goods & services category purchases ensuring transparency and efficiency in all awarding processes.
  2. Be responsible for end to end procurement of Opex materials & Release of Contracts to acquire indirect goods and services required for Functioning of Plant and business sites.
  3. Negotiate and execute contracts for key goods/services.
  4. Assess supplier capabilities, product/service quality, pricing, and delivery terms to secure the best value and maintain high standards.
  5. Build strong relationships with internal teams and present cost-reduction strategies and category plans to procurement leadership.
  6. Stay updated on market trends, identify supply chain risks, and implement contingency plans to prevent operational disruptions.

What they need from you:

  1. Extensive indirect procurement/subcontractor procurement experience, relating to Energy & Facilities within an OEM / Manufacturing / Engineering environment (Essential).
  2. Strong knowledge of supplier onboarding, contract negotiation, & supplier management (Essential).
  3. Ability to prioritise tasks, work independently, and meet deadlines (Essential).
  4. Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline, e.g., Mechanical or Automotive Engineering (Desirable).
  5. Experience with ERP systems such as SAP or Ariba (Desirable).
