Job description

Due to continued growth, a leading UK Food retailer is looking for an experienced Buyer to join their impulse team. You will be responsible for a key category, Soft Drinks, working with major FMCG brands. This role is based within their Midlands head office and is full-time office-based.

You will be responsible for delivering a commercially focused Food product range that meets both company and team targets, while maintaining a strategic business focus to ensure continued growth within the categories.

Responsibilities:
  • Building & maintaining strong relationships with both large FMCG suppliers and smaller independent suppliers.
  • Sourcing suppliers & negotiating best cost prices.
  • Analysing sales figures to plan successful future lines.
  • Reviewing levels of own brand stock & ensuring adequate levels are available while minimising risk.
  • Presenting reports, figures & trend information to the Senior Management team.
  • Dealing with and resolving problems/queries relating to damaged or out-of-date products.
  • Analysing market trends and competitor activity.
Key Requirements:
  • Must have experience within a fast-paced FMCG environment, preferably within Food.
  • Ability to influence and negotiate effectively.
  • Able to adapt swiftly in a fast-paced, ever-changing FMCG market.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to liaise effectively at all levels.
  • Good working knowledge of budgets and managing conflicting projects.
  • Excellent understanding of all MS Office products including advanced Excel.
